My dear readers. I have officially been hired! I am excited and terrified at the same time. Is there anything more explosive than a mixture of joy and fear? A bit like bungie jumping. Here I would like to mention that I am not afraid of heights, however, tight spaces make me have panic attacks to the point of hysteria…. Perhaps you are familiar with the film Buried with Ryan Reynolds?
Saturday coffee at McDonald’s with my sweet M. (he’s 5, and I have to bribe him with a Happy Meal so I can browse in my favourite shops for books).
As lucky as I can be, I hunted down some juicy bites, which you can check out below. There were also some truly munch bunch ebooks from my Kobo shop as well.
Sit tight and enjoy.
Bookstore hunt.

(author of a Girl with a Pearl Earring)
“Violet is 38.

“They say I must be put to death for what
happened to Madame, and they want me to confess.
But how can I confess what I don’t believe I’ve done?”
“1826, and all of London is in a frenzy. Crowds
gather at the gates of the Old Bailey to watch
as Frannie Langton, maid to Mr and Mrs Benham,
goes on trial for their murder. The testimonies against her are damning – slave, whore,
seductress. And they may be the truth. But they are not the whole truth. For the first time Frannie must tell her story. It begins with a girl learning to read on a plantation in Jamaica, and it ends in a grand house in London, where a beautiful woman waits to be freed. But through her fevered confessions, one
burning question haunts Frannie Langton: Could she have murdered the only person she ever loved?“

“How can one writer hurt another where
it really counts – his reputation? This is
the problem facing novelist Richard Tull,
contemplating the success of his friend
and rival Gwyn Barry. Revenger’s tragedy,
comedy of errors, contemporary satire, The
Information skewers high life and low in
Martin Amis’s brilliant return to the territory
of Money and London Fields.”

“Like A,S. Byatt’s Booker Prize-winning novel,
Possession, these two mesmerising novellas
are set in the nineteenth century. In Morpho
Eugenia, an explorer, realises that the behaviour
of the people around him is alarmingly similar to
that of the insects he studies. In The Conjugal
Angel, curious individuals – some fictional,
others drawn from history – gather to connect
with the spirit world. Throughout both, Byatt
examines the eccentricities of the Victorian
era, weaing fact and fiction, reality and
romance, science, and faith into a Sumptuous,
magical tapestry.”

“From the minds of Douglas Adams (The
Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy) and Terry
Jones (Monty Python) comes Starship Titanic,
the hilarious novelization of the third-best
adventure game of 1999.”
“Welcome on board the Starship Titanic. The Ship that Cannot Possibly Go Wrong. At the centre of the galaxy, a vast, unknown civilization is preparing for an event of epic proportions: the launch of the greatest, most gorgeous, most technologically advanced spaceship ever built – the Starship Titanic.
An Earthling would see the ship as something really, really big, but rather less provincial onlookers would recognize it as the design of Leovinus, the galaxy’s most renowned architect. Before the launch Leovinus is having one last little look round and begins to find that things Just aren’t righti poor workmanship,
cybersystemS out of control, robots walking into
doors. How could this have happened? The following morning, while the galaxy’s media looks on, the fabulous ship eases away fror the construction dock, picks up Speed, Sways a little, wobbles a bit, veers wildly and, just before it can do untold damage to everything around ita appears to undergo SMEF (Spontaneous Massive Existence Failure). In just ten seconds, the whole stupendous enterprise is over. And our story has just begun…”
